Kensington is a residential suburb 3 km from Perth’s central business district. Kensington is located within the City of South Perth local government area. Kensington was named after the former Kensington Park Racecourse, which was most likely named after William Samuel Cox’s Kensington Park Racecourse, in Melbourne. The suburb is bounded by Canning Highway to the west, Berwick Street to the north, Kent Street to the east, and Hayman Road and South Terrace to the south.

Kensington contains Wesley College’s playing fields at Morris Mundy Reserve. It borders Perth’s Technology Park and Curtin University, named after former Australian prime minister John Curtin. Kensington also contains Kensington Primary School.

Canning Vale is a large southern suburb of Perth 20 km from the Perth CBD. Its local government areas are the City of Canning (west of Nicholson Road) and the City of Gosnells (east of Nicholson Road). Canning Vale’s name derives from the Canning River, located about 3 km to the suburb’s northeast. It was locally known as North Jandakot until 1925. Canning Vale is bounded by Warton Road to the southeast, Garden Street and Nicholson Road to the northeast, Roe Highway to the north and northwest, and Clifton and Acourt Roads to the southwest.

Canning Vale contains five retail precincts, four within the residential areas. A large industrial area is located in the north-west. Community facilities include five primary schools (Canning Vale (opened 1994), Ranford (1999), Campbell (2002), Excelsior (2005) and Caladenia (2007), and a private school (St Emilie’s Catholic)), and a high school, Canning Vale College, numerous churches, a Sikh temple, a Hindu temple, a community centre and two golf courses (Gosnells Golf Club and Canning Vale Country Club). The Canning Vale Senior Football Club (est. 2011) has participated in the WA Amateur Football League ever since its formation. It has won the 2011, 2012, and 2013 premierships. Their home matches are played at Clifton Park.

Parkwood is a southeastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Its local government area is the City of Canning. Parkwood is bounded by High Road to the north and northeast, Nicholson Road to the east, Roe Highway to the south and Willeri Drive to the west. Parkwood is a residential suburb with a scattering of parks of varying sizes. It contains Lynwood Senior High School (1974) and Parkwood Primary School (1975, originally called West Lynwood), which contains one of Perth’s seven primary-school-level Intensive English Centres. The Stockland Riverton shopping centre, located in northwestern Parkwood on High Road, is near the Canning Arts Centre and the Riverton Leisureplex. The Riverton Leisureplex is a large facility with sporting, fitness and recreation facilities first opened on 9 November 2001,[5] is operated by the City of Canning and includes the council’s largest library. The building was designed by the architectural firm James Christou and Partners. The southeast is served by a neighbourhood shopping centre on Vellgrove Avenue and community and sports centre, which back onto Whaleback Golf Course, an 18-hole public golf course. The facility first opened on 9 January 1981 on a buffer reserve between the Canning Vale industrial area and the housing developments in Parkwood and Lynwood, and was significantly upgraded in December 2002.

Cannington is a southern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Its local government area is the City of Canning. Cannington’s name derives from the Canning River, which forms part of the southwestern boundary of the suburb. It was first subdivided in 1882, and a railway station was constructed in the 1890s opposite Station Street in (now) East Cannington. Cannington is bounded by Nicholson Road to the southeast, the Armadale railway line to the northeast, Mills and Burton Streets to the northwest, and Fleming Avenue and the Canning River to the southwest. Albany Highway runs through the western part of the suburb.

Cannington contains one of the Perth metropolitan area’s largest shopping complexes, Westfield Carousel, first built in 1972 and extensively refurbished and expanded in the 1990s, which includes a Hoyts cinema complex. Albany Highway contains a range of shops and small warehouses, as well as the City of Canning council offices. Bentley Hospital is just beyond the northwestern boundary on Mills Street. Along the Canning River is the Canning River Regional Park, which contains walking tracks and picnic facilities as well as the Woodloes Museum, a restored 1874 house built by architect and pioneer Francis Bird. Various sports and leisure facilities, including soccer fields, ten-pin bowling and an indoor athletics centre. The Canning showgrounds which includes the Cannington Raceway which is a greyhound racetrack and Cannington Exhibition Centre.
